We offer a fully comprehensive portable appliance testing training course that covers all aspects of portable appliance testing. We have a experience of testing many thousands of different appliances per annum which gives a uniqe real world experience of testing portable appliances which we pass on to all our candidates.
Certificate of competence - (Full Day)
The certificate of competence course is designed to allow testing of electrical appliances within your own company or give you the experience necessary to start your own testing business. It follows the IEE code of practice and all candidates will recieve a certificate of technical competence on successful completion of the course. There is a morning theory session and afternoon practical session included. Detailed training booklets are provided and no electrical experience is required.

Course Duration & Programme : PAT Training - 7.5 hrs
- 9:15 - Course start and introductions
- 9:30 - Theory session covering risks of electric shock, visual inspections, identifying different class of appliance and types of equipment along with frequency of inspections
- 11:00 - Break for refreshments
- 11:20 - Continuation of theory session with in depth session on appliance classes and the required tests, understanding tests and test values, recording results along with fuse ratings and much more
- 12:30 - Break for lunch
- 13:00 - In depth practical session where candidates will learn the correct ways to inspect plug tops and appliance flex's along with a in depth practical session using portable appliance testing equipment
- 16:00 - Practical session closes and candidates will be required to show competence in the inspection of plug tops and appliance flex's and also testing of electrical appliances.
After successful completion of the PAT Training course all candidates will recieve a certificate of competence which will allow portable appliance testing to be carried out competently using all types of portable appliance testing machine.
Candidates will also be provided with a in depth training booklet which includes details on current IEE regulations, correct ways to test class 1 & 2 appliances, PASS & FAIL values, fuse ratings, frequency of inspection and testing along with much more.
